Christiaan’s full name is Christiaan Neethling Barnard, Christiaan was born on November 8, 1922 in Beaufort West, Cape Province, Union of South Africa and died on September 2, 2001 (Age 78) in Paphos, Cyprus. Christiaan was a South African Cardiac Surgeon who performed the world's first human-to-human heart transplant operation. Barnard transplanted the heart of accident-victim Denise Darvall into the chest of 54-year-old Louis Washkansky, with Washkansky regaining full consciousness and being able to talk easily with his wife, before dying eighteen days later of pneumonia. Christiaan’s research had inspired a lot of people during surgery of transplant from a body to another body.
